All he could do was run. The thing's eerie shreeking was terrifying now. His armour was roundly coated in blood, and his bolter had been ripped apart. The chainaxe had splintered back there. They'd been walking in the tunnel, he remembered. They broke into song occasionally, chanting and laughing like children. They were just happy to be doing the Blood God's work. The unit had been in the midst of one of these, when they reached a widening in the tunnel. Headless corpses lined the wall. The clearing, maybe sixteen meters wide, had blood up to their shins. Evastis had walked over to one. "Still fresh", he growled. Dra' min had splashed over to another body. He touched it, sniffed it, licked it. "An hour eaten."
