The Flashback, Cont.

The shadow grew, seeming to detach from the wall. "What the hell?" began Destov. Evastis raised his pistol and fired. And fired. Every shell struck its mark, and yet the shadow simply expanded. The entire squad began to blast away. The growing spot of blackness floated off the wall and hovered there. It wasn't a shadow anymore, but a gaping void in the dim room. Evastis caught on first. "RUN!" he yelled. The others either couldn't hear, or didn't care. With an earsplitting scream, the fabric of reality wrenched apart and folded unto itself. Green lightning crackled around the sphere, and a gusher of time poured out. Evastis might have spent a mere second, or three centuries, but, where demons are concerned, there is no such thing as too little time. With a roar, an elongated shape unfolded. Tzeentch's demon was unleashed.

The Flashback

All he could do was run. The thing's eerie shreeking was terrifying now. His armour was roundly coated in blood, and his bolter had been ripped apart. The chainaxe had splintered back there. They'd been walking in the tunnel, he remembered. They broke into song occasionally, chanting and laughing like children. They were just happy to be doing the Blood God's work. The unit had been in the midst of one of these, when they reached a widening in the tunnel. Headless corpses lined the wall. The clearing, maybe sixteen meters wide, had blood up to their shins. Evastis had walked over to one. "Still fresh", he growled. Dra' min had splashed over to another body. He touched it, sniffed it, licked it. "An hour eaten." In the dim light of that place, a shadow flickered.

Not enough

Evastis was running now. He was running. Destov was dead. He was running. Holes in the armour. Running. Blood pouring out of Destov's mangled body. Just running.

I'm BACK!

Evastis' instincts kicked in. He jumped to the side, rolled, and fired.
The thing screamed.
The walls seemed to scream.
And, in the darkness, something screamed.
Evastis stood back up. He'd managed to punch holes in the roof of the mouth of the... thing.
Whatever it was, it was dead. And that was all he needed to know.
He called out, "Follow." A hoarse grunt, no more. It was all that was needed.
He walked deeper, into the darkness.

WHOOPS...

Sorry 'bout all that. Didn't check back, forgot all about, and then got back into 40k. Then I remembered this. I'm gonna post real soon. Sorry... again. :(
